Position: Semi Auto Welder
Location: Lexington, Tennessee
Position Overview: Process chain and chain assemblies. Other duties may be assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assemble attachments in preparation for welding.
  • Load completed assemblies into drums.
  • Set-up and operate assembly machine.
  • Set-up and operate various assembly welder.
  • Weld attachments to chain or into sub-assembly using welders.
  • Read various types of manufacturing prints.
  • Inspect chain, attachments and finished assemblies.
  • Perform preventative and minor maintenance on machines.
  • Manually move chain containers (steel pallets, drums, etc.) safely.
  • C-open links to fit attachments using assembly machine.
  • Operate lift truck when necessary.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices.
  • Complete all paperwork
  • Cut to length various sizes of chain using torch and/or hydraulic cutter.
  • Set-up and Operate Semi-Automatic Welders and Assembly Welders.
  • Set-up and Operate Link Heat Machine
  • Inspect, Piece-up and Weld running lengths of various chain sizes.
  • Link heat, Inspect, proof test and gauge piece-up links polish or paint as necessary.
  • Perform preventative and minor maintenance on machines in piece-up cell.
  • Read and understand various chain manufacturing specifications.
  • Manually move chain containers (steel pallets, drums, etc.) Safely Operate lift truck when necessary.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices.
  • Complete all paperwork
  • Set-up and operator Semi-Automatic Welder/Calibrator/Stamping press and Shear Machine.
  • Read and understand various chain manufacturing specifications.
  • Adjust strain (proof load) gauge indicator.
  • Use gauges or calipers as needed to measure chain for proper stretch and shear. Check chain for proper embossing per specifications.
  • Spot inspect chain, removing defects by cutting with hydraulic cutter, bolt cutters or torch.
  • Piece-up and weld running lengths of various chain sizes.
  • Perform preventative and minor maintenance on equipment in Load Chain Cell.
  • Maintain Good Housekeeping practices.
  • Complete all paperwork.
  • Manually move chain containers (steel pallets, drums, etc.) safely.
  • Use complete sentences
  • Start sentences with verbs

Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities:
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
