Job Description

Monday-Friday, 7 am- 4 pm

Reach-truck, forklift and Electric Pallet experience required. Previous warehouse experience with shipping, receiving and additional material handling equipment preferred, but will train strong candidate. 70% on equipment and 30% completing other task.

O Physical demands - heavy labor involved: able to consistently lift 40-50 lbs for majority of shift.

O Reading & writing - must pass open book Food Safety Test to work outside of training and obtain access badge. High school level reading and comprehension to differentiate between sku's, item numbers and warehouse bin locations.

O Personal demeanor - professional (volunteer, donor and staff interactions), team player (small team with little independent work) and customer service orientation.

O Environment - dry and 30-40% in Cooler cold warehouse. Anticipate going into cold zones for 3 hours daily - (cooler is 30-40 degrees and freezer is -10 degrees).

  • Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Material Handler is responsible for operating standard warehouse equipment for the purpose of loading and unloading trucks as well as moving, locating, relocating, stacking, counting merchandise, customer order fulfillment, tagging and staging of orders pulled. Ensures completeness and correctness of all orders filled and correctly receives delivered products to defined warehouse areas. All responsibilities must be handled in a manner that meets company standards for safety, security and productivity.

  1. Uses electric pallet jack, reach truck and forklift to select customer orders, ensuring accuracy and proper staging of all orders pulled. Performs order fulfillment duties in an efficient manner that meets customer service standards in accordance with the highest possible levels of safety, accuracy and productivity.
    • Check correct number and product type pulled
    • Use hand held scanning equipment for order fulfillment as required.
    • Repack and weigh any orders which require such handling when necessary.
    • Report quality variances.
    • Fills out all paperwork legibly, accurately, completely and turns in as necessary.
  1. Loads and unloads trucks in a timely fashion following current warehouse procedures and safety measures.
    • Loads staged orders onto trucks and completes shipping Bill Of Lading (BOL) as instructed.
    • Unloads trucks, verifies accuracy of BOL and quality of product to be received.
    • Receives donated product into inventory.
    • Checks correct number and product type received.
    • Uses hand held scanning equipment for product receipt as required.
    • Moves received products to assigned area of storage.
  1. Maintains the facilities equipment and materials in a clean and orderly fashion by performing daily cleaning of areas as assigned. Charges electric power equipment batteries as needed and operates all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods.
  2. Abilities to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers, OTR drivers and the public. Communicates in clear and professional manner.
  3. Assists in physical inventory activities (cycle counting, Y/E PI, etc.) as needed.

6. Other duties as assigned.
