Job Description
What does a successful Senior Staff Counsel do?Provide legal support to Fiserv's Account Processing Solutions team and work with some of Fiserv's most active product lines. Account Processing offers comprehensive bank platforms and value-added products and services for community, mid-tier and large financial institutions, enabling banks to efficiently manage a wide range of activities such as account opening, deposits, withdrawals, loans, customer information management, general ledger, and commercial online banking services. Major responsibilities of this role include preparing and negotiating client, vendor, and other related agreements; providing counsel to sales, account management, product, implementation, and technology leaders on legal matters; and liaising with company specialists regarding intellectual property, technology, privacy, security, regulatory, employment, and litigation matters.In this role, you can look forward to:* Work directly with business unit representatives to prepare and negotiate client, vendor and other technology-related and commercial agreements for Fiserv's upmarket and commercial segment of Account Processing Solutions.* Advise business stakeholders on legal, contractual and risk matters impacting their areas of responsibility.* Provide consultation and legal advice with respect to strategic initiatives, technology projects, customer and vendor contracts, intellectual property, dispute resolution, regulatory matters, corporate policies and procedures, and administration.* Effectively interact with corporate specialists regarding finance, audit, tax, publicity/press, intellectual property (including patent applications), litigation, regulatory, privacy and technology matters that affect the business divisions.* Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and applicable legislation affecting the operations of the business divisions.* Develop and maintain forms of contracts and other legal documentation.* Perform other duties as required.Basic Qualifications for Consideration:* JD from accredited law school* Licensed to practice, or ability to become licensed to practice, in appropriate jurisdiction* In good standing with State Bar with no disciplinary record* At least five (5) years of relevant legal experience, including relevant subject matter experience with a large law firm or in-house practice at an information technology company.Preferred Qualifications:* Experience interacting with senior management.* Experience in managing outside counsel* Prior experience in FINTECH, software, outsourcing and technology commercial contracting.Travel required: Some travel required.Learn more about Fiserv:To support the total well-being of our associates, Fiserv takes a broad approach to our benefits.
