We assist clients who are facing legal disputes, investigations, and other off-strategy issues by: Quantifying damages and providing expert testimony in a range of dispute situations. Employing forensic accounting and multifaceted modeling expertise to unravel complex financial and operational data. Independently gathering and analyzing critical information. General Purpose: Associates in the Disputes, Compliance & Investigations group work in a team environment to assist Stout clients and their in-house and outside legal counsel confronted with challenging litigation disputes, fraud and other financial investigations, transactional disputes and claims, and regulatory compliance matters. An Associate in this group will assist businesses, government entities, and law firms in complex, data-intensive analyses requiring the understanding of relationships between various information sources and complex modeling. As an Associate, a typical day might include the following responsibilities: Analyzing financial, bank, and other operational business records. Identifying the relationships among multiple sources and types of data and organizing this information to facilitate effective data analysis. Performing industry, company, or technical research. Reviewing, organizing, and analyzing project documents and information, such as copies of email communications and other contemporaneous business records produced by the parties to a dispute, deposition transcripts and exhibits, legal briefs, and court filings. Designing and implementing complex financial database models to generate meaningful analysis and conclusions. Normalizing and analyzing large structured and unstructured data sets. Maintaining detailed work-paper records of assumptions, methodologies, and sources of information utilized during the performance of all analytical tasks. Preparing written analyses, reports, and presentations. Performing the day-to-day activities of projects including interaction with clients, team members, and professionals from other firms involved in the engagement. Assisting in business development activities, such as proposals and professional articles. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Possess strong quantitative and qualitative research and analytical skills. Highly proficient in using analytic tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel, SQL, Tableau, and Python) to analyze data. Ability to demonstrate excellent communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills. Ability to critically analyze financial statements, accounting records, and other financial and operational documents and to understand relevance of non-financial documents and information. Ability to develop and critique alternative arguments and opinions. Ability to focus on details and produce high quality work product under strict deadlines. Ability to manage tasks for multiple engagements and prioritize based on deadlines. Ability to adapt to new engagements and re-prioritization of deadlines. Ability to regularly communicate project/work stream status to both internal and external clients. Strong time management and organizational skills. Ability to work in a team as well as independently. Highly motivated, hard-working, eager to learn, willing to travel, and able to motivate others. Basic Qualifications: Minimum of a Bachelor?s Degree in Accounting, Finance or similar field 2-4 years of experience in finance or accounting, with an emphasis in complex problem solving, data analytics, or related competencies Certified Public Account (CPA) preferred but not required Desire to obtain CPA, CFE, or similar Experience working in a team-oriented environment Must be eligible to work in the US, without employer sponsorship, at the time of hire and in the future.
