Advanced Thermal Systems Engineer

IMPACT and OPPORTUNITY

As part of our Advanced engineering group, you will play an important role in our focused growth Strategy by researching, designing, and developing exciting new thermal comfort systems. This is done by utilizing and building on our core technologies and competencies including Thermophysiology, software and electronics, simulation, thermal engines and system integration. This position will be focused on our goal to "shift left" by developing hardware system plant models to support the development of control systems and algorithms to optimize system level performance earlier in the development cycle. You will be part of an outstanding technical team which is revolutionizing automotive occupant comfort, with high efficiency systems that will play a critical role in the future of automotive electrification.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop multidomain physical system and component plant models, utilizing Simulink/Simscape to determine most effective thermal comfort delivery and support the development of control algorithms..
  • Work in close collaboration with stakeholders including our thermophysiolgy, simulation, and software teams to develop best/standard practices.
  • Ensure that new product related to Advanced climate systems and components are designed within various internal standards according to applicable specification in a safe, cost efficient and timely manner.
  • Provide systems design support to advanced development team members.
  • Initiate, review and release model verification test plans.
  • Analyze data to ensure simulation and physical testing error is within acceptable tolerances.
  • Ensure functional and safe prototypes through testing and experimentation.
  • Identify achievable project timelines from design phase through production and service.
  • Hands on concept tinkering and test/verification where needed

OTHER CORE FUNCTIONS

  • Attend, support and participate in engineering development meetings with the customer and team.
  • Research new technology, design, manufacturing and industrial engineering related documentation for new and existing products.
QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Thermal Fluid Systems or other Engineering related discipline
  • Working knowledge of 1D and 3D Simulation Tools (Simulink/ Simscape)
  • 1-3yrs of relevant work experience in thermal system development
  • Good communication and presentation skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficiency in CFD, CAD, Data Analysis
  • System-level thermal and fluid flow performance testing
  • Thermal Measurements and Analysis
  • Understanding of human Thermophysiology
  • 1D Thermal Simulation
