Duties and Responsibilities The Loyola University Health System (LUHS) and the Loyola University Chicago (LUC) Stritch School of Medicine and the Hines Veterans Administration Hospital (HVA) are offering a full-time faculty position on the clinical educator track (CET) for a Board Certified and fellowship trained Glaucoma Specialist.. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong interest and prior commitment to clinical and/or basic science research. Candidates should have a history of outstanding clinical care and a strong academic commitment to the clinical training of residents and medical students. Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with training and experience. The position will be available starting December 2019. Interviews can be arranged, with opportunities available at the upcoming AAO meeting in San Francisco, CA. Currently, the Department of Ophthalmology has 23 full time and 20 part time clinicians who manage over 65,000 patient visits per year on the Loyola (Maywood and 4 other satellite offices) and neighboring HVA sites. We have 5 dedicated research scientists (2 PhD, 2 MD, 1 OD/PharmD). The residency training program with 4 residents per year is managed by a dedicated team including the Program Director, the Vice Chair of Education and the Chief Resident. The Department of Ophthalmology will be one of 5 departments (Neurology, Neurosurgery, Otolaryngology and Psychiatry) to participate in a planned Neuroscience Institute. The main Loyola research facility is a 225K square foot Center for Translational Research and Education (CTRE) which opened in 2015 and houses the clinical Research Office (CRO) and research administration.
