Job Description
Position Purpose:Patient Accounts is responsible for focusing on assigned AR projects, working closely with insurance companies and team members to resolve disputes on outstanding claims. Also accountable for identifying issues or trends and bringing them to the attention of the management team.Essential Functions and Responsibilities:Complete follow-up on outstanding insurance claims directly with payers.Work through coding and billing issues by reviewing EOBs and correcting errors/resubmit in a timely manner.Properly document the patients accounts of all steps taken to resolve the balance.Follow up on all delinquent accounts until they are resolved.Resolve discrepancies and prepare adjustments and refunds as necessaryBring recurring issues and improvement ideas to the attention of management.Eliminate timely filing issuesEstablish working relationships with individuals at insurance companies.Maintain Productivity goals set by the Collection ManagerSpecial Projects/ReportsGES Experience ReportGESD Quarterly Audit/ROAThird Party RefundsComplete other duties as assignedThis job description is not intended, nor should it be construed to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, skills, or working conditions associated with a particular job. Employees in this job may perform other duties as assigned.Minimum Job Requirements (Education, Experience, Skills):High school diploma or equivalent.Knowledge of federal laws and regulations affecting coding requirements preferred.Previous accounts receivable experience preferred.Previous medical office experience preferred.Excellent verbal and written communication skills including, letters, memos and emails.Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.Must be able to organize and prioritize with excellent time management skills.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with providers, management, staff, and contacts outside the organization.Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access) and internet resources.Meaningful Use knowledge preferred.Strong analytical skills.Physical Demands:This position requires incumbent to sit at desk and/or stand for long hours during regularly scheduled work hours. This job may include, but are not limited to sitting, reaching, stooping, crouching, kneeling, climbing, twisting, hearing and repetitive motions. The ability to life up to 25 pounds.Working Conditions and Environment:Incumbent works in a temperature controlled medical office environment.
