Job Title: Senior Counsel/Assistant General Counsel, Privacy & Data Protection

Responsibilities:
* Assist in developing and maintaining policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the Company's privacy and data protection obligations.
* Advise business stakeholders and legal department colleagues on issues relating to privacy, data protection, data mapping, and information security.
* Flag and escalate appropriate matters to other subject matter experts in the legal department, including the litigation and regulatory compliance teams.
* Develop and conduct training for internal clients on the Company's legal obligations relating to privacy, data protection, data sharing, and information security.
* Provide legal advice and support to the Company with respect to security incident matters.
* Draft and review website privacy notices, terms and conditions, cookies policies, and other privacy notices and disclosures.
* Maintain the Company's GLBA opt-out request database as well as DSARs related to CCPA.
* Assist in the negotiation and drafting of privacy, data protection, and information security provisions in commercial and other contracts.
* Advise internal clients and legal department colleagues on new developments in federal and state privacy, data protection, and information security laws and regulations.
* Support business stakeholders and members of the legal department on privacy-related matters, including issues related to joint ventures, acquisitions, integrations, new consumer finance products, and other business development opportunities.
Qualifications:
* J.D. degree from an accredited law school.
* At least six years of significant experience with privacy and data protection laws and regulations, including the CCPA, NYDFS, GLBA, Reg. P, TCPA, FCRA, and other state and federal consumer protection and privacy laws.
* Experience providing legal advice regarding privacy, privacy impact assessments, data sharing, and related issues.
* Prior financial services industry experience, especially mortgage, a significant advantage.
* Strong project management skills and ability to complete projects with minimal supervision under tight timelines.
* Can-do, "roll up your sleeves" mindset.
* Sound business judgment and ability to strike the right balance between legal risks and business goals.
* Willingness to learn the business and build strong relationships with internal stakeholders.
* Self-motivated with strong work ethic.
* Ability to work collaboratively and cross functionally with a customer service mindset.
* Resilient with a sense of humor.
* Prior in-house counsel experience a plus.
* CIPP/US Certification preferred.
