Facebook is seeking a talented attorney to work on Facebook's Legal Privacy Team to support Facebook's community and business integrity teams. The successful candidate will work with integrity teams in the United States and abroad to create, enforce, and improve policies and product features intended to help protect the safety and security of Facebook users and promote trust on Facebook services. The role will work closely with product, engineering, policy, operations, and business teams, and will apply a complex, evolving legal framework to new and innovative products and services. We are looking for a candidate who has a solid understanding of privacy laws and principles, is motivated, collaborates well, and is able to practically weigh and manage risks around privacy. In addition, a successful candidate is excited by taking on and leading complex privacy projects, thrives in a fast-paced environment and can seamlessly drive success working with multiple cross-functional stakeholders to accomplish bold things.
Lead Counsel, Privacy Integrity Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain subject matter expertise in areas of data use and privacy laws globally and advise on the impact of the same on Facebook's business
Assist product lawyers in evaluating the impact of privacy laws, regulatory guidance and enforcement actions
Support members of the business and policy teams on privacy related community and business integrity issues
Assist in the development and conduct of general and role-specific privacy trainings across Facebook
Minimum Qualifications
* J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least one US state bar
5+ years of legal experience, including at a law firm and/or in-house experience
Experience specifically advising on privacy legal risks and mitigations, with working knowledge of relevant privacy laws such as CCPA, GDPR or LGPD
Business judgment and client counseling experience
Preferred Qualifications
* Working knowledge of youth/minor related privacy issues and laws
In-house experience with applicable litigation, regulatory, or product counseling, particularly at a technology company
Working knowledge of global privacy laws, regulations, and industry guidelines, especially those relevant for social media and Internet companies
Experience advancing projects in a multi-stakeholder environment
Experience explaining topics and gaining support and consensus from multiple stakeholders
