The U.S. Bank Law Division is seeking a Chief Privacy & Data Counsel to lead the Law Division's Privacy and Data Strategy team which supports the enterprise's Privacy and Data & Analytics Programs. This attorney will lead the team of Law Division professionals that provides legal support to the business lines and supports the enterprise's Data Privacy and Protection Program as well as the enterprise's Data & Analytics functions. This attorney will provide legal advice on a wide variety of data protection and privacy matters which arise from the enterprise's complex operations located in the U.S., U.K., E.U., and other jurisdictions. The position will routinely interact with C-Suite and other senior leaders at the Bank and will be responsible for helping create and carry out the direction and strategy of U.S. Bank's Privacy and Data programs. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: Guiding the alignment of privacy and data policies and administration with relevant legal, regulatory, industry and ethical guidelines, both domestically and internationally. Informing the strategy, development and use of personal and commercial data and analytics products with sound legal counsel aligned to the enterprise business strategy. Advising on privacy and data protection legal issues and legal compliance with privacy and data protection laws and regulations. Helping plan the direction and strategy for U.S. Bank's Enterprise Privacy and Data Protection Program, including guidance on enterprise policies and procedures covering the privacy of and security of personally identifiable information in accordance with relevant laws and regulations. Providing legal advice and guidance to U.S. Bank's senior leadership, managers, and other internal clients in the U.S., U.K., and E.U. to ensure that current and proposed activities, policies, business practices, and transactions comply with relevant privacy and data laws and regulations. QUALIFICATIONS: Law degree Licensed in good standing to practice law in at least one jurisdiction Twelve or more years of experience as an attorney in a law firm or in-house corporate environment, practicing domestic and international privacy law Five or more years of management experience PREFERRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE: Working experience at an AMLAW 100 and/or Fortune 500 environment as a managing attorney in the Privacy and/or Data fields Familiarity with financial services organizations, and the relevant privacy and data protection laws and regulations that apply to financial services In-depth knowledge of domestic and international privacy and data protection laws and regulations, and current public policy developments related thereto Familiarity with Privacy by Design and related concepts Demonstrated proficiency working collaboratively to deliver results Technical fluency in approaching complex data infrastructure and systems Strong commercial contracting skills Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills Strong commitment to client service Benefits: Take care of yourself and your family with U.S. Bank employee benefits.
