The role serves as the senior most attorney on the Law Firm Management team. providing support to the operation of the Legal Department. The Counsel 4 role will serve as a senior advisor and lead the implementation and execution of key initiatives that result in greater risk management, performance management and diversity efforts of our outside counsel relationships. The role will lead project teams, drive others to meet objectives and goals, and offer excellent legal and strategic advice. The position is central to delivery of senior level legal support of key processes, including the CCAR process, Conflicts process, and drafting of firm contractual agreements on AFAs and RFPs.
Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to interact and influence senior leaders, strong project lead experience, a commitment to risk management, operational excellence and supplier diversity. Additional skills needed include competencies with data analytics, excellent oral and written communication skills.
The ideal candidate is someone with a high degree of legal acumen across a variety of legal practice areas, including litigation, with a background in legal operations (10+ years of experience practicing at law firm or in-house position).

Required Qualifications
* 8+ years of experience as a practicing attorney; or 6+ years of experience as a practicing attorney and 2+ years of legal-related experience in one or a combination of the following areas: risk, compliance, contracts, government, regulatory, financial services, or technology
* Active State Bar membership

* Ability to analyze legal and regulatory issues in area of practice and provide effective advice to clients on complex legal matters
* Extensive experience conducting research and providing counsel and guidance regarding complex legal issues
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy skills
* Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
* Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work while handling multiple matters
* Ability to work effectively in a complex environment with a high degree of collaboration
* Effective in building partnerships, functioning well with project teams, and working for the success of the team
Other Desired Qualifications
* 10+ years of experience practicing at law firm or in-house position
