Job Description
Job Brief:
Friedman Law Group (FLG) is a woman-owned law firm in Chicago that values a flexible, inclusive, and collaborative work environment. Their clients include prominent advertising and public relations agencies as well as major advertisers. FLG is looking for a dynamic attorney to be a part of their sophisticated practice that focuses on marketing, promotions, trademark, and copyright law. The FLG model has always understood that professionals can work effectively while remote and can serve clients well when they have the flexiblity they need to deliver the best possible work product.

Responsibilities:

Draft and negotiate a variety of agreements in support of clients' marketing initiatives including talent and influencer agreements, licensing, releases, co-promotional and production agreements, charitable sponsorships, NDAs, event-related agreements, and other similar agreements
Provide thoughtful advice in connection with legal risks for digital/social media campaigns as well as large-scale live and virtual events; propose practical solutions to clients at all levels of management, including providing counsel to senior level executives and in-house legal counsel

Core Qualifications:

3-5+ years of law firm and/or in-house experience in copyright/trademark law, specifically in the area of advertising and marketing law
Ability to creatively problem-solve under minimal supervision, exercising sound, independent judgment
Professional, confident demeanor and an ability to work well with colleagues and to communicate effectively
Excellent drafting, negotiating, and analytical skills
Proficiency with core office and document management technology

Preferred Qualifications:

U.S. trademark clearance/prosecution work
Experience reviewing and advising on sweepstakes rules and promotional materials
Advertising review, claim substantiation, and rights clearances (knowledge of FTC-regulated marketing practice guidelines a plus)
Exposure to SAG-related issues in connection with talent engagement

Required Education:

J.D. with strong academic credentials
Admission to any U.S. State Bar
