Overview

The Pipeline Cost Estimator position will be required to provide accurate cost estimates for utility related projects in a detail format that will encompass at a minimum a cost breakdown, based on estimate, assumption/exceptions, material/equipment, design/engineering. The scope typically includes design-engineering package deliverables, field related work efforts, permit requirements, planning, schedule milestones and estimates.

Responsibilities
    Responsible for directing the cost estimate effort on major pipeline projects.
  • Work with Sr. Cost Estimator/Project Manager on estimates for review and approval.
  • Coordinate with the project team related to estimating and field related support.
  • Provide accurate pipeline design, construction and install estimates.
  • Prepare proposals related to estimates and total installed cost estimate, baseline, etc.
  • Review specifications and drawings, exhibits for cost estimate, develop detail takeoff of drawings.
  • Provide bottom up (crew & activity-level) estimates with a good understanding of production rates and key quantities.
  • Understand and forecast scope of work activities, schedules, task, cost control measures.
  • Provide cost task related to overhead, escalation, contingency, labor, equipment, material, and profit, team makeup, different type of construction activities/job cost.
  • Develop and provide project stage cost estimate, variables, lesson learn on project life cycle during construction activities.
  • Support meetings with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and governing agencies.
  • Report progress in achieving the required work scope to the client on a regular basis.
  • Track and report schedule and budget status.
Qualifications
  • Pipeline project experience, with industry knowledge of gas pipeline and gas facilities is required.
  • A minimum of 1-10 years of experience in estimating pipeline and/or facilities.
  • Cost estimating software (Heavybid Preferred) or similar platforms.
  • Good problem-solving, decision-making, communication, analytical and human relations skills required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently required.
  • Proficient computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite)

Education

  • A Bachelors Degree in Business, Engineering or related field and 1-10 years of related experience or a combination of education and experience
