Job Description

To support Guardant's leadership in disruption of cancer treatments, the Enterprise software team is looking for an experienced and energetic Software Engineer II in Test to help drive software quality and continuous integration for an exceptional customer experience. The Enterprise software team is a driven group of software engineers, QA, DevOps and IT specialists who are passionate about software technologies and strive for positively impacting patients' lives through innovation and engineering excellence. The ideal candidate for this role will be an innovative self-starter. You will help develop and implement the test strategy for the software being developed for our Lunar program. You will collaborate with internal/ external stakeholders. Using your broad experience, you will develop regression test suites focusing on various layers of the test pyramid to ensure component and system level coverage.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with SQA engineers and members of the software development team to develop test cases that ensure the quality of the software used in CLIA, CAP, NYDOH, and FDA regulated environments.
  • Participate in requirements and design review meetings to create comprehensive, automated test strategies/plans for bioinformatics software leading to successful implementation and timely project completion.
  • Work with the software development team to understand functional specifications, identify gaps, define good acceptance criteria and design test cases for component and system level API, UI and Integration testing.
  • Work with cross-functional teams, and support integration and regression testing of enterprise level software.
  • Execute complex testing, perform in-depth statistical analysis, and interpret results independently.
  • Design, create, enhance, and maintain data simulators and automated testing framework to ensure excellent testing coverage.
  • Provide written documentation and specifications of software products and services.
  • Provide coaching to other team members for designing test strategies and test cases with strong knowledge of software testing principles.
  • Report, track, and escalate anomalies discovered during all testing phases and ensure closure on issues.
  • Perform Impact Analysis for incremental changes and identify the scope of regression / test cycles and execute them as needed.
Qualifications
  • 4+ years of hands on experience with programming and scripting languages such as JAVA, Python, shell and software dev/QA in Linux environment.
  • 4+ years of hand on experience in UI automation using testing frameworks such as cypress.io or selenium
  • 4+ years of hands on experience in scripting, running, analyzing, and refining automation frameworks for comprehensive and full application testing, including API testing.
  • 4+ years of hand on experience testing web API built with Django REST framework
  • 2+ years of experience in Continuous Integration / Delivery tools such as Jenkins and container runtime tools such as Docker
  • 2+ years of working with Databases such as PostgreSQL
  • Experience with test case management tools and best practices for scalability and maintainability.
  • Excellent organization and people skills with the ability to work across functions to ensure successful integration testing.
  • Experience working in an FDA regulated environment preferred
  • Experience testing across a variety of platforms: Microservices, Event Driven Applications and SaaS solutions preferred

Additional Information

Employee may be required to lift routine office supplies and use office equipment. Majority of the work is performed in a desk/office environment; however, there may be exposure to high noise levels, fumes, and biohazard material in the laboratory environment. Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
