Job Description for Service Technician
Title: Service Technician
Reports to: Service Manager of Newark and Shop Foreman
Scope: Responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining motorcoaches and other commercial heavy vehicles.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned, as needed:
  • Repairing and maintaining motor coaches and other commercial vehicles
  • Specific duties and responsibilities are determined by the technicians own training, certification, knowledge, skill, and experience
  • Interior component repair/replacement
  • Timely completion of mechanical service operations
  • Ensure stories on the service orders accurately reflect the problem and work completed
  • Know, and understand Company policy and procedures
  • Compliance with all local, state, and Federal regulations applicable to operations, buildings, grounds, and personnel including EPA, OSHA, and DOT
  • Promotes safe work habits and a safe clean work environment
  • Embraces and promotes ABC's customer service philosophy
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Previous technician experience in an automotive environment, motorcoach preferred
  • Able to read and understand specifications and prints
  • A current driver's license is required. Preferrable but not required, to complete and maintain the DOT requirements necessary to obtain a CDL class B license with passenger endorsement
  • Preferred to have ASE, Cummins, Detroit, and Allison certifications
Skills:
  • Be able to multi-task and work independently
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels within the company, its customers, and vendors
  • Willingness to be flexible and productive
  • Ability to speak, read and comprehend the English language
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to lift, push and pull at least 100 pounds
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time (80-100% of shift)
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat and lift frequently throughout a shift
  • Ability to work in and outdoors for extended periods of time
