RIA Custody

The RIA Custody team at Goldman Sachs is responsible for delivering innovative digital products to our RIA client base. We design and build highly scalable web, mobile and API platforms that offer innovative product and services to help RIAs meet their goals as well as their clients' needs. These digital tools help to transform and provide a holistic end user experience for both the advisor and their clients, while generating new revenue streams for Goldman Sachs' Global Markets franchise. RIA Custody at Goldman Sachs is a product driven team, composed of talented and passionate product managers, designers, researchers, marketers, salespeople and engineers, all working together to develop new and innovative products that will disrupt the RIA marketplace.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

The Profitability and Analytics team within RIA Custody uses data science and financial modeling to bring quantitative rigor to strategic business decisions. We identify, model, and centralize informative datasets from within the RIA Custody business, the rest of Goldman Sachs, and beyond. We use these data to create predictive models for key financial, sales, and operational performance indicators. We create and maintain automated reporting, dashboards, and alerts that provide transparency to management across the team and division. Finally, we rapidly deliver ad hoc analyses allowing the business to stay nimble and respond to market driven opportunities.

Examples of projects include pricing models, revenue projections, API utilization reports, cost attribution models, and data-driven market segmentation.

The Profitability and Analytics team will need to possess diverse skills and knowledge. No single member is expected to know everything and each new member will be evaluated based on their contribution to a well-rounded, highly collaborative, team. However, a good candidate will possess strong technical abilities and experience in many areas as well as a passion for broadening their expertise.

Basic Qualifications:

    Excellent written and verbal communication
  • A quantitative mindset, numeracy, and abstract thinking
  • Proven ability to independently solve complex problems
  • Strong multi-tasking, time management and organizational skills
  • Relevant coursework and preferably a bachelor's degree in Statistics, accounting, computer science, operations research, etc.
  • At least four years of related experience or two years' experience and a relevant advanced degree

Financial Skills:

  • Financial accounting
  • Cost accounting and expense allocation
  • Financial modeling and forecasting
  • Budgeting and financial planning

Technical skills

  • Statistical modeling such as linear and logistical regression or time series analysis
  • Operations Research
  • Basic scripting in a high level language such as Matlab, Python, R, or SQL
  • Building complex models in Excel or similar tools
  • Data visualization and reporting in Tableau, QlikView, Salesforce, or others

Subject Matter Expertise

  • Analytics: specifically, sales, financial, or operational analytics
  • Capital markets, trade flow, custody, asset management
