POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Compliance Auditor/Educator performs role responsibilities and duties within the Audit Department under the direction of the Audit Manager. This position is dedicated to improving the accuracy of documentation, coding, and billing for the services rendered by the Baptist Health Hospitals. Principle duties include performing internal compliance audits related to hospital services, generating professional written audit reports, and providing individualized training and recommendations to management, staff, and/or other key stakeholders.

Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required

  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in hospital-related coding, billing/reimbursement, healthcare compliance, and/or auditing; or 5 years combination of hospital-related experience and a program degree in a related field.
  • Coding certification through AHIMA required.
  • Minimum of an associate degree preferred.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Deep understanding of hospital-related workflows, department structures, and clinical resources.
  • Expertise in researching complex coding, billing or compliance-related questions.
  • Must maintain subject matter expertise of coding principles and applicable government regulations and protocols.
  • Must be able to work independently, communicate effectively,and demonstrate professional business writing skills;
  • Willing to travel among the Kentucky and Indiana hospitals and stay overnight when needed to complete assigned audits.
