The Advanced Electrical Development Engineer for Connectivity and Connected Services will lead the technical readiness of advanced projects to bring new features from idea to first vehicle application investigation. Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Engineering assessment of features requested by Product Design Office and Feature Planning
Development of the evolution of advanced features and their inclusion on roadmaps
Execution of technical readiness assessments to deliver new features to the readiness level required for the full investigation by the Advanced Technology and Pre Development Programs (AT&PDP) or Product Development releasing organizations for first time through success
Successful fulfillment requires organizing and leading small cross-functional teams with members from Feature Planning, Vehicle Integration, HMI, PDO, AT&PDP and Product Development to develop engineering feature assessments
Produce a credible assessment, candidate will have to ensure to have high-level customer Functional Objectives, understand the available technologies to support the desired experience, lead the initial technical disposition for development, describe how the feature/technology integrates with a block diagram, develop a technology readiness assessment, develop the evolution of features on Roadmaps supported by Roll Out Plans and lead the final disposition of projects to the most appropriate team for development
Regular reporting to management is required
Participation in relevant professional organizations (SAE, Society for Information Display, SPIE) and technical authorship will be encouraged
This position requires the successful candidate to lead both technical and team discussions
A passion for exploring and working with the technology underpinnings of customer facing HMI components is a must
Interfacing with U.S and international counterparts will occur within the organization
Experience in evaluation of suppliers, their technical solutions, understanding the competitive landscape and managing supplier activities is helpful
Understanding of EE Functional Safety, Software Release process, Product Development Plan (PDP), Global Vehicle Development process, Specify the Vehicle (STV), NX and Teamcenter
Basic Qualifications:
A minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent (Materials /Chemical/ Civil/ Aerospace/Computer/Computer Science or equivalent) from an ABET accredited or equivalent program
Five years of experience in electrical / electronic system development
Knowledge of development testing and validation processes desired
Track record of strong leadership interfacing with multiple disciplines such as engineering, planning, purchasing and suppliers
Must be self-directed with the desire to take on visible leadership role
Excellent communication and presentation skills required to support the design/development process as well as frequent written and verbal executive updates
Preferred Qualifications:
Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) or a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from an ABET accredited university
Two or more years' experience with complete vehicle cycle development
Eight years of automotive product development and program execution
Proactive DFSS experience
Experience in EE Systems requirements development and change management
Experience in Controller Area Network (CAN) and Local Interconnect Network (LIN) and associated tools
Experience with Chrysler Electrical/Electronics Development Plan (EEDP)
Experience in infotainment aspects such as: Audio/Video generation, USB, Wireless protocols, APP development
