What this role is all about:

We are looking for a Maintenance Technician in Le Sueur, Minnesota.

8.5 hour shifts, Sunday - Thursday, 11:00 pm - 7:30 am, with a rotating on call schedule.

The Maintenance Technician performs routine and break down maintenance on processing and packaging equipment. The Maintenance Tech is responsible for keeping the plant running and in compliance with all rules and regulations by using safe methods of equipment repair/upkeep.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Efficiently perform regular and preventative maintenance related to the plant, equipment, and grounds in compliance with standard operating procedures, good manufacturing practices, and safety policies as enforced by OSHA.

  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment during the production process as needed.

  • Prepare and set up machinery for scheduled production runs.

  • Effectively perform and assist in repair or updating and installation of equipment.

  • Perform troubleshooting of equipment, including both electrical and mechanical systems.

  • Complete and update work orders using in-house systems.

  • Complete and maintain routine and preventive records and logs.

  • Work closely with production to minimize downtime while maintaining quality.

  • Perform building and grounds maintenance/up-keep as needed.

  • Maintain a working knowledge of all plant area processes.

  • Accurately read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders.

  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with managers and colleagues.

  • Decisions administered soundly and consistently with policies and in compliance with appropriate laws and regulations.

  • Ability to solve problems by adapting knowledge and experience.

  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, adapt to a changing environment quickly, and think independently.

  • Demonstrate functional and technical knowledge, ability to learn new skills quickly, and achieve a high level of accomplishment.

  • Demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy in work.

  • Basic computer operational skills; able to input and retrieve computerized information.

  • Exhibit a professional manner in dealing with others and work to maintain constructive working relationships.

The Requirements (Minimum Qualifications):

Education Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Experience Required:

  • Maintenance/repair experience or training preferred.

  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude required.

The Location:
Our presence in Le Sueur, MN, consists of the following locations; Le Sueur Cheese, The Friendly Confines Cheese Shoppe, Le Sueur Ingredients, Le Sueur Protein Research Center, and Le Sueur Business Office. These locations produce various types of cheeses, such as; parmesan, romano, asiago, gouda, muenster, Monterey Jack, and cheddar. They also run various whey streams, such as; whey protein isolate (WPI), whey protein concentrate 34 (WPC 34), whey protein concentrate 80 (WPC 80), and both pharma and food-grade lactose.
Le Sueur, MN, was the original home of the Jolly Green Giant. This small town provides a safe, friendly atmosphere with great neighborhoods and affordable housing while maintaining several large businesses.
