Primary Function
The airfield operations specialist is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the airfield to ensure a safe and efficient operating environment for both local and transient flying. Actively support and uphold the Company's stated vision, mission, and values.
Responsibilities
Inspect all areas of the airfield to include but not limited to: Pavements, markings, signs, lighting, obstructions, Bird/Wildlife Aircraft Strike Hazard (BASH), fencing, habitat management, construction areas, Foreign Object Debris (FOD) and airfield fueling activities in accordance with required regulations
Individual must be able to operate a vehicle on an airfield and communicate with the air traffic control tower. Must be able to effectively coordinate closures with little to no disturbance to flying operations
Coordinate construction activities on the airfield and prioritize discrepancies for maintenance repairs
Respond to in-flight and ground emergencies on the airfield
Familiar with Base Operations: Maintaining Events Logs, Flight schedules/logs, use of CRASH phone and emergency notifications, update Airfield Status Boards and Airfield Discrepancy Logs
Familiar with Airfield Driving Program and requirements with ability to effectively train new airfield drivers
Issue Notice to Airmen via the FAA NOTAM Manager system
Must be able to multitask in high stress situations
Coordinate all aircraft activities with relevant departments to ensure continuous operations
Familiar with wildlife control devices such as BASH cannons
Enforce a FOD free airfield
Work hand-in-hand with other departments, agencies, foreign governments and foreign nationals often to complete work
Coordinate day-to-day airfield activities
Other duties as assigned by management
Job Requirements
Three years of airfield operations experience inspecting airfields and working base operations. five years preferred
Working knowledge of FAA, UFC and ICAO regulations
Preferred Qualifications
Civilian or military experience inspecting an airfield and working base operations/flight dispatching
Preferred USAF airfield management 5lvl qualified or AAAE airport operations certification
High school diploma; prefer aa/as degree in aviation
Normal color vision
Possession of a valid state driver's license
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent organization skills
Proven ability to work both collaboratively and autonomously
Strong initiative
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
