Description

The University of Chicago's Department of Radiology is searching for full-time faculty members at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The appointee will have responsibilities including overseeing the QA/QC program in nuclear medicine with respect to regulatory compliance, ACR accreditation requirements, patient safety, image processing, and continuous image quality improvement in imaging protocols, as well as consultations in equipment purchase decisions, acceptance testing, shielding design and site planning. The appointee is required to fulfill the physicist's role in the department radiopharmaceutical therapy program and work closely with the radiation safety office. Additional responsibilities include the teaching of clinical medical physics residents, radiology residents, medical physics graduate students, and technologists. It is also expected that the appointee will contribute to departmental quality improvement projects and participate in research activities. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications. We especially seek applicants with a strong commitment to the tripartite mission of education, clinical care, and research.

Faculty members have many opportunities available to develop research interests in collaboration with our strong basic science group as well as other clinical and basic science departments throughout the campus. Of particular note, we have recently established a state-of-the-art medical cyclotron, the only one in the region, and so there will be significant opportunities for involvement with our rapidly expanding nuclear-molecular imaging program.
