Laulima Government Solutions, LLC is looking for a qualified Imaging Physicist Support Scientist to support a Government contract in Frederick, MD.

Description of Responsibilities

* Support activities that involve veterinary and human medical imaging.
* Comply with the NIH Division of Occupational Health and Safety requirement for satisfactory completion of the Biosurety program and Select Agent program.
* Play a role in ensuring that the biosurety program promotes a security conscious culture.
* Comply with the physical security, protection of the division's property, protection of information, cyber security, agent protection, control and accountability, safe disposal and waste handling, and personal security guidelines set forth by the division's Biosurety program.

Degree/Education/Certification Requirements

* Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Physics or Electrical Engineer from an accredited college or university with 3 years specialized training and research in Nuclear Imaging
* Ability to work in a BSL-4 setting

* Must be a US citizen or permanent resident.
* Ability to obtain/maintain DoJ Security Risk Assessment (SRA) approval.
* Must be willing to be immunized with licensed and FDA approved Investigational New Drugs (IND) recommended for persons at risk to occupational exposure of biological agents.
* Must be willing to participate in periodic drug screening.
* Must have the ability to obtain/maintain certification in Chemical Personnel Reliability Program and/or Biological Personnel Reliability Program.
* Must have the ability to obtain/maintain CDC Select Agent Program approval.
* Willingness to work under BSL-4 conditions to support the operations of specific modalities in Computed Tomography (CT), Single Positron Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT), Positron Emission Tomography (PET), microPET/CT and Ultrasonography within the imaging suite. Must be able to wear respiratory protection.
* Must have experience working with radioactive materials.
* Imaging expertise to provide imaging services on animal models in the BSL-4 environment. Must be able to support new projects in PET, SPECT, CT and Ultrasound by building on standard imaging techniques.
* Must have experience with image reconstruction techniques for PET, SPECT and CT images.
* Must be able to assess the quantitative accuracy of PET, SPECT and CT images.
* Must be able to develop image post-processing capabilities by using programming skills in MatLab, C, ImageJ or other languages/programs as necessary.
* Demonstrate interpersonal, oral and written communication, and organizational skills.
* Demonstrate ability to ability to work independently, design experiments, and analyze data.

* Good Laboratory Practice experience is preferred.
* Experience with pre-clinical imaging systems, e.g. microPET/CT.
* Experience with Philips or other clinical PET/SPECT/CT systems is a plus.
* Basic understanding of laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
* Experience with viral Select Agents.
