Advanced Development Engineer, Testing and Calibration

IMPACT and OPPORTUNITY

In this position, the new team member will join our dynamic engineering team working to create Gentherm's revolutionary new ClimateSenseTM system. This position allows our Engineers to be on the cutting edge of EV development and Climate Control technology. You will play a critical role in managing the development and validation of the system at the vehicle level. Your key responsibilities will be to work with our Software and Controls teams to integrate, calibrate and validate the innovative controls system that is being developed to drive the CliamteSenseTM system. The Engineer will help deliver core technology, as well as OEM customer lead development projects. While working on Gentherm's newest innovative product, success for this position will be completing the validation of the ClimateSenseTM control systems and developing strong customer relationships supporting the acquisition of the first production intent projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate and lead vehicle level testing and system level control integration
  • Collect and analyze vehicle data to drive improved product design, system function and control
  • Develop vehicle validation plans and specifications
  • Develop test procedures for calibration and controls development
  • Work as a member of the team to develop and implement a complex vehicle thermal system
  • Work as a member of the team to establish functional attributes and requirements of the system, subsystem and components
  • Interpret customer specifications, develop and validate vehicle test strategies to support the vehicle level development process
  • Develop DFMEA, DVP&R documentation as required to support customer programs
  • Provide direction to suppliers as required to achieve the required deliverables
  • Manage technical interface with customers as needed to insure the proper integration of the ClimateSenseTM system
  • Identify new and innovative solutions that meet strategic objectives. Support development of product roadmaps, strategies, and requirements
QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering: Mechanical or Electrical.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience working in system level integration, testing, and control is required.
  • Control theory and application.
  • Knowledge of statistics and data analysis.
  • Experience with electro-mechanical and/or Thermal systems.
  • Team player with strong communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's Degree in Engineering.
  • Experience working at automotive OEM.
  • Experience with automotive Thermal or HVAC systems.
  • Experience with prototyping tools for control development, e.g. LabView or Simulink.
  • CAN tool experience, e.g.: Vector CANalyzer, CANape, New Eagle - Raptor.
  • Familiar with Agile Management tools such as Jira or Jazz.
  • Fluent in German language.
