Job Description

The Battery Management System ("BMS") Electrical Design Release Engineer for high voltage battery hardware and integration is responsible for the end to end management of the BMES electrical design and production release of the battery pack assembly BMS printed circuit boards ("PCB") Cell Supervisory Circuits ("CSC") and related activities relative to electrical architecture, wiring, PCB's and bus bars. This person will work closely with the battery pack electrical technical specialist.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop program HVBS BMS hardware concepts that satisfy vehicle level functional objectives
  • Coordinate ePT HVBS BMS hardware and related wiring/wireless packaging activities with advanced concept engineering team
  • Execute programs through PDP that meet or exceed objectives for performance, cost, weight, investment, and quality
  • Develop and publish HVBS BMS performance standards
  • Develop system level DVP and coordinate component level DVP with Tier 1 supplier
  • Execute design for manufacturing process and coordinate assembly process with manufacturing engineering

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering field from an ABET accredited/equivalent university
  • Minimum of FIVE (5) years in product engineering electrical design, development and/or testing
  • Ability to analyze circuits, bus bars, wiring, logic diagrams, and other related items to the high voltage battery pack assembly as it relates to BMS component hardware
  • Assist development of technical specifications and engineering designs for the BMS and CSC assemblies including:
    • PCB including battery management systems, cell supervisory circuits, etc.
    • Wireless protocols including but not limited to Bluetooth and WLAN ( IEEE 802.11)
    • Thermal fuses and other circuit protection devices
    • Wiring, terminal, and connectors
    • Laser welding, ultrasonic welding, soldering, crimping, and orbital riveting
    • Labels
    • Battery and module assemblies
  • Demonstrated experience source packages, specifications, DFMEA and DVP&R through the complete product cycle (from sourcing approval to serial production)
  • Provide technical support for electrical/electronic testing including circuit fatigue, EMI, RFI, etc.
  • Experience in problem solving
  • Strong technical research and writing skills
  • Self-starter
  • Google Suite Experience
  • Strong Presentation Skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering as accredited by ABET or ABET equivalent
  • Experience in the full product life cycle design and release experience using the FCA releasing system
  • Reactive and/or DFSS black belt
  • Experience with competitive benchmarking assessment preferably using A2MAC1
