Position Summary

The Center for Urban Education (CUE) at Metropolitan State University of Denver and George Washington High School are collaborating on an in-school tutoring program for the 2020-2021 academic year. The program will focus on online intervention support and credit recovery in mathematics, language arts, science and social studies for high school students at George Washington High School.

Duties/Responsibilities

You will be expected to communicate with students assigned to your caseload and help them complete their online classes, as well as help them develop their own independent study skills. You will guide them through their course, giving support through video calls and emails, and will monitor your students' progress to make sure they are succeeding and on track to completing their online classes.

* Mentor students and support them in completing their online classes
* Review recent homework assignment and test scores, and work through problems or questions that the student did not answer correctly
* Employ proven study aides to prepare for upcoming tests and quizzes
* Take notes during tutoring sessions so you can follow up with the student later
* Support teachers of record in small group instruction
* Support teachers of record with grading assignments and tests as needed
* Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

**MUST BE A STUDENT ENROLLED AT AN APPROVED COLORADO HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTION**


MSU Denver students in all discipline areas may apply, however, priority content areas are math and language arts for all shifts. We are seeking students with academic backgrounds and content experience in Algebra I and II, Geometry I and II, reading strategies, American Literature, Science courses such as Biology, Chemistry and Earth Science; and Social Studies courses such as U.S. History, Geography, World History.

* Students must be in good academic standing (not on academic probation).
* Students agree to abide by all MSU Denver Human Resources' Student Employment, Student Conduct and School policies.
* Students must be enrolled for at least 6 credits for the Fall of 2020

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience working with youth
* Experience with Credit Recovery platforms
* Bilingual in English and Spanish

Work Hours

Program Schedule is Monday - Thursday: 9:30 am - 3:00 pm each day.
*Tutors will work a minimum of 4 hours a day.
The position has Flexible Hours in customizable blocks between 9:30-3:00 pm.
