Job Description

JobSummary:

The primary objective of the Senior Network Engineer will be to analyze, design, install, configure, implement, maintain and support the network infrastructure to meet the technical demands of the company. This position will provide direction, information and recommendations regarding network configurations and installations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage entire network infrastructure for worldwide multi-site offices to ensure high availability;
  • Architect network for growth and upgrades for improvements and optimized network performance;
  • Assist in managing computer network and related computer equipment. Install, support and maintain server hardware and software infrastructure;
  • Identifying system improvements by evaluating system performance;
  • Upgrade, install, and configure systems; monitor system performance;
  • Install and upgrade network routers, switches, firewalls, VPN devices and assist with desktop hardware and software;
  • Upgrade system performance by tuning and configuring the system;
  • Responsible for allocating network resources;
  • Assist and educate network users;
  • Research and recommend new hardware purchases, suggesting and providing IT solutions to business and management problems;
  • Working with vendors and business units on department and company projects to accomplish information systems and Masimo company goals;
  • Test, evaluate, and install new software and systems;
  • Manage network backup system;
  • Prepare and test disaster recovery procedures;
  • Undertake routine preventative measures and implement, maintain and monitor network security and intrusion detection;
  • Prepare technical and user documentation and training materials;
  • Ensure highest 24 hour/7 day week IT critical system availability;
  • Plan and implement future IT developments, and undertake projects working closely with other departments and collaborate with other IT staff;
  • Establish network standard practices and procedures;
  • Assist in software development of Masimo processes;
  • Assist in maintaining company compliance with federal regulations and implementing best practice standards in information technology processes and procedures;
  • Coordinate and review the work of assigned team members; coordinate work schedules;
  • Assist management in developing standards for acceptable levels of performance within the work unit;
  • Monitor and report on performance against established standards;
  • Report on performance for the purpose of identifying training and development opportunities for staff;
  • Provide input on hiring, promotion, demotion and termination decisions;
  • Provide input on provide input for staff annual performance appraisals and salary increase decisions;
  • Provide technical guidance and/or subject matter expertise for staff;
  • May approve hours worked and time off requests;
  • Performs other duties or special projects as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years of related network experience;
  • Customer focused;
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows desktop OS and other standard PC applications;
  • Extensive knowledge of PC hardware and software configurations;
  • Experience in analysis, installation, and testing of software packages;
  • Advanced experience in administration of Microsoft Server environment and Active Directory;
  • Knowledge of networking protocols and services and Ethernet hardware, including routers and hubs;
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft XP and Windows 2000/2003/7 client/server environment;
  • Experience in remote access servers and VPN;
  • Ability to work independently and with moderate supervision;
  • Exceptional organizational skills;
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written; Experience with documentation of processes;
  • Excellent problem-solving ability, technical and analytical skills;
  • Database experience;
  • Ability to bend, squat, crawl or climb and lift up to 70-100 pounds;

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 to 3 years (or more) of previous experience, as a Senior Network Administrator/Engineer;
  • Experience with DNS, Security, IP routing, HTTP, VPN, and email routing;
  • Previous solid experience configuring and setting up network security: Firewalls, VPN concentrators and Security appliances;
  • Experience with design, setup, and configure complex switching environments;
  • Knowledge of load balancing and security concepts;
  • Experience designing multi-server environments, including IP address schemes, DNS, WINS, NAT, routing protocols;
  • Experience maintaining multi-site network operations and software applications;
  • Manage assigned projects and program components to deliver services in accordance with established objectives;
  • Knowledge of VoIP implementation and support, video-conferencing and cloud technology;
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to mentor other network engineers;
  • MCSE preferred, CCNA/CCNP/CCDA/CNE certifications a plus;

Education:

Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Physical requirements/Work Environment:

This position primarily works in an office environment. It requires frequent sitting, standing and walking. Daily use of a computer and other computing and digital devices is required. May stand for extended periods when facilitating meetings or walking in the facilities. Some local travel is necessary, so the ability to operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid Driver's license is required.

Ability to bend, squat, crawl or climb and lift up to 70-100 pounds
