Job Description

The Simulator Engineering & Programs - Hardware Engineering group is leading the way in the development of advanced simulation training systems used in the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program (NNPP) for the training of our Sailors. This business area continues to expand as the demand for high fidelity, reliable, and cost effective training solutions grows.

An Advanced/Senior Engineer position is available to drive this technical advancement in simulation engineering. This position will require involvement in numerous simulation products which will be delivered over the next several years. The successful candidate will be responsible for working through various project stages including design, installation, testing, and ultimately lifecycle sustainment of the simulation platforms. Additionally, this position will include involvement in the development of next generation simulation products which will be developed over the next decades. Specific responsibilities include:

• Supporting development and implementation of PLC I/O based control systems
• Troubleshooting PLC I/O based control systems
• Reviewing and dispositioning supplier electrical design submittals to validate technical requirements are met
• Coordinating lifecycle sustainment efforts, including spare parts, documentation, and maintenance for PLC I/O based control systems
• Responding to supplier requests for information and engineering changes
• Developing technical requirements defining high-level functionality of trainers
• Developing technical specifications for contracting with simulation suppliers
• Interfacing with suppliers and performing oversight of supplier manufacturing and testing

Required Skills

Advanced:

• BS degree in engineering or Bachelor's degree in a science related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of four years of relevant experience; or
• MS degree in engineering or Master's degree in a science related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years of relevant experience; or
• Currently or previously NPE qualified or CTE/ACRS and one year of EOOW in the Nuclear Operations Program; or
• Watch Instructor and Refueling Facility Area Refueling Engineer and one year as SRE

Senior:

• BS degree in engineering or Bachelor's degree in a science related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of six years of relevant experience; or
• MS degree in engineering or Master's degree in a science related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of four years of relevant experience; or
• Currently or previously Shift Supervisor Part I qualified or EDO and two years as EOOW in the Nuclear Operations Program; or
• Three years as SRE plus Watch Instructor and Refueling Facility Area Refueling Engineer and Fuel and Barrier Shift Supervisor (ECF only), or SRE qualified and six years of experience

Preferred Skills

• Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• BS Degree or Higher in Electrical Engineering
• Experience with 3D modeling, mechanical/electrical system design, and PLC systems
• Experience with National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements
• Experience in propulsion plant operations or design
• Experience in requirements development, technical writing, and simulation
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
