Job Description

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

Rainin, a subsidiary of Mettler-Toledo, is looking for an experienced plastics engineering expert. In this role, you will be the Subject Matter Expert when it comes to the science of plastic components for design and development, and a key source of knowledge for the organization. You will design and develop new applications and products based on polymers from concept to realization. Responsibilities will include:
  • Designing and developing high-tolerance, thin wall, high volume components for injection molding, perform FEA and mold flow analysis using MoldFlow (Moldex3D) software tools to optimize part design
  • Solving challenging issues for components molded from engineered materials for precise instruments
  • Evaluating materials and alternative processes for potential new applications in the Life Science market
  • Working with suppliers, consultants and the Rainin operations team to develop new solutions
  • Optimizing component production and molding efficiency for new components

What You Need to Succeed

  • The ability to work with shop level and executive personnel.
  • A bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, and/or systems engineering (or closely related area) and 7 years of experience in a related industry such as precision lab-grade consumables or products; alternatively 5 years of experience with a master's degree
  • Demonstrated experience with design and development of high volume, high tolerance Injection molded parts
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of engineering polymers
  • Proven track record of driving projects to successful completion
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
