Overview

Abacus Technology is seeking a Sr. System Administrator to provide technical support for the 14th Flying Training Wing at Columbus AFB. This is a full-time position.

Responsibilities

Provide administration and maintenance for all systems (i.e., servers, databases, applications) hosted in 14 CS datacenter and its designated backup site in accordance with AF Technical Orders (TO), Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Standard Technical Implementation Guides (STIG), and vendor specifications. Provide access, touch maintenance and monthly training to local system owners and client system administrators. Perform data backup prior to any maintenance actions. Coordinate and provide physical response (touch maintenance) assistance to Air Force Information Network (AFIN) Mission Assurance Cell (AMAC), MAJCOM Communications Control Center (MCCC) and all DoDIN Ops offices based upon notifications, coordination, directives and Network Task Orders received. Develop, perform, and document emergency shutdown, communications minimize actions, start-up and recovery operations during times of network instability, or as directed by COR. Test, evaluate, and optimize new SDC releases prior to base-wide implementation. Maintain Tier II responsibilities for SDC-based systems utilizing Columbus and DoDIN networks. Actively monitor systems and supporting devices with AF provided tools, open trouble tickets for any observed issues and notify 14 CS/CFP via the COR of impact. Maintain logon scripts to ensure security patches, STIG compliance, organizational units, group policy object (GPOs), user notifications, and network drives are mapped at login. Develop network scripts, such as PowerShell, for system administrators to perform bulk trouble ticket fixes for common software requests, or as requested. Test all developed scripts prior to providing to system administrators and will maintain a script library repository and instructions on how to execute script and update variables. Provide administration and maintenance on base file and storage server in accordance with 14 CS/SCOK file structure guidance and ensuring the confidentiality, 24/7 availability, and integrity of data. Perform, document and maintain a data backup and recovery plan to ensure at least one full backup per week and daily incremental backups. Install, configure, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot hardware and a variety of operating systems (OSs) (i.e., Microsoft Window and IIS versions, Oracle), various virtualized environment components (i.e., vSphere, vCenter) and virtual platforms (i.e., VMWare, Microsoft) optimized to support base operations.

Qualifications

8+ years experience in a systems administration role. Bachelor's degree in a related field. Must be Security+ certified. Must hold or be able to obtain within 3 months one of the following certifications: Server+, MCSA, VMWare VCP-Data Center Virtualization, and HPE-ASE Storage Solutions. Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining servers with thorough knowledge of Microsoft technologies, including Microsoft Windows 2008+ operating systems, SCOM, WSUS, SCCM, Exchange 2010+. Experience with VMWare ESX, vSphere, and vCenter a plus. Experience with Active Directory and GPO. Able to assess server infrastructure and configuration and identify areas for improvement, and recommend solutions. Able to provide technical guidance and direction to junior and mid level system administrators and help desk technicians. Extensive experience with security as it pertains to server infrastructure, desktops, laptops, servers, firewalls, routers, and intrusion detection systems (IDS). Experience with DoD IT environment and networks desired. Must have good communication skills and an ability to conceptualize server infrastructures and configurations. Able to work independently or as part of a team and interact professionally within all levels of an organization. Must be a US citizen and hold a current Secret clearance.
