Job Description

To provide the physician with information for the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Maintaining current knowledge and skills to performance of a wide variety of quantitative and qualitative analyses of body fluids and other materials to provide the physician with information for the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Maintain a minimum of 12 CE per year. Operation of laboratory computer system as it relates to daily laboratory operations. This includes the running of daily worklists and resolving issues that may be presented. Operation and troubleshooting of analyzers instrumental in daily laboratory operations. Reporting and communicating results to physicians, medical staff and offices including documentation of critical values as per policy. Demonstrates service excellence in all patient care activities. Promotes an environment of service excellence in work area. Promotes teamwork and quality patient care in all interactions with co-workers, physician offices and other departments.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

BS in Medical Technology or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE

Two years experience preferred. Phlebotomy skills recommended. Generalist experience an asset. Ability to work with a self supervised team.

LICENSURE

ASCP certification preferred.

SPECIAL SKILLS

Working in a normal clinical laboratory environment, handling test samples, utilizing a computer terminal. Close concentration and attention to detail are required.

PHYSICAL DEMAND

Lifting of medium weight objects. Intense concentration with instruments or procedures for more than half of the day. Works under stressful conditions for most of the day.
