Responsibilities
    Provide recommendations to client leadership on investment opportunities in Countering Improvised Threats (C-IT) capability development to reduce known and previously unrecognized capability gaps in this area and to help meet validated requirements, including co-authoring development plans.
  • Present organized analytical assessments to the client program integrators and leadership that identify potential initiatives for DTRA to consider. The initiatives may improve current client efforts, take advantage of technological opportunities, improve the understanding and-or evaluation of complex issues, or improve policy development, decision-making, management, or administration for the client's contribution to the DTRA mission.
  • Provide technical advice, feasibility analysis, and products necessary for the implementation of approved initiatives, including conclusions and-or recommendations that are supported by data, analysis, and operational relevancy.
  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and directing C-IT technical activities.
  • Provide expertise in all C-IT investments and maintain awareness of current scientific developments within the national and international technical communities in the following areas:
  • Robotics including Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS);
    • Systems Engineering;
    • Multi-sensor data exploitation;
    • Radar;
    • LIDAR;
    • Motion imagery (MI) including wide area motion imagery (WAMI) exploitation architecture and algorithms;
    • Traditional and modern signals SIGINT sensors and exploitation
    • Machine Learning from sensor data
  • Support client at all appropriate briefings, seminars, conferences, workshops, colloquia, and other working groups to document the C-IT technology needs, developments, requirements, and studies, and present technical contributions resulting from DTRA investments.
  • Keep abreast of advanced technology, concepts, and trends to discover initiative solution candidates for use by DTRA and keep the client team informed on solutions within their field of expertise.
  • Co-author peer reviewed publication submissions to journals, conferences, workshops, and colloquia on relevant technical contributions achieved from DTRA investments in C-IT and related technical capability developments.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, reports, legal documents, etc.
  • Prepare reports and presentations to company management and customer(s)
  • Respond to inquiries from customers, management, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
  • Oversee daily activities of area or customer
  • Support development and execution of company policies, procedures, and guidance
Qualifications
  • Master of Science degree in Physics, Engineering (required)
  • PhD degree in Physics (desired)
  • 10+ years experience in one or more fields listed in Responsibilities section
  • Demonstrated expertise by publications, presentations, patents, or other authored documents.
  • Experience with US Military and DTRA mission in C-IT preferred
  • Ability to identify and solve problems
  • Ability to manage time and resources
  • Ability to delegate implementation plans to subordinate members of group
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Effective communicator
  • A minimum of an Active Secret clearance is required
