BMT is seeking a Marine Electrical Engineer to provide technical support to a government and commercial ship design engineering team. Electrical Engineer will review electrical systems design drawings, interpret ship specifications, evaluate power and lighting systems, interior communication systems, navigation systems, exterior communication systems, combat systems, electric propulsion systems and diesel electric drive systems, perform electric power load and fault current analysis; and write electrical system specifications and requirements for concept, preliminary and contract level ship designs and ship modifications. Duties will include reviewing marine electrical systems, interpreting or defining engineering requirements, specification writing, mark-up and redline shipyard drawings to reflect actual installations, reviewing data and creating design reports and notes and performing ship checks and surveys. Electrical Engineer will also work on commercial vessel designs, developing electrical systems based on client and USCG regulatory requirements and satisfying ABS Classification Society rules.
Applicants must be a United States (US) citizen with the ability to obtain, a DoD security clearance. Company will not sponsor work visa or provide relocation for this position.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline required
Professional Engineer License highly desirable
Minimum 5 years’ electrical engineering work experience with marine power generation, distribution, controls or other shipboard electrical systems required
Minimum 3 years’ experience using AutoCAD to prepare, review and redline electrical system drawings in a DoD, USCG, or shipyard work environment required
Minimum 3 years’ experience working with IEEE-45 requirements, ABS Rules for Classification of Ships, and National Electric Code required
Advance MS Office Excel skills required
Minimum 3 years’ experience working with multidisciplinary engineering teams organizing and managing time constraints and tasks required
Sea service or shipyard production experience preferred
Ability to promptly and procatively investigate and resolve engineering or design assignments, demonstrating proficiency in completing detail-oriented tasks on time
Physically able to conduct ship checks including being in confined spaces, climbing ladders and lifting up to 25 pounds required
Ability to work independently and with multidisciplinary teams is required
Excellent listening, clear verbal communication and technical writing skills that facilitate ability to reach out, ask questions and complete tasks required
Knowledge of USCG and US Navy drawing standards and templates desired
Ability to learn new skills and design standards and apply them directly to current work required
Interest in training and actively contributing to individual and team growth
Confident action oriented, self-starter with a sense of integrity and actively contributes to building and expanding consultancy services
