Summary:
Responsible for coaching, recruiting, scheduling and budgeting of the University’s intercollegiate Division III Men’s Basketball program. Teaches activity courses and a second assignment within the Athletic Department is required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Coaches the Intercollegiate NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Program
Developing and Implementing Practice and Game Plans for 19 Week / 25 Game Season
Recruits qualified student athletes according to Trinity University’s Admission Office Guidelines
Develops Annual Men’s Basketball Budget and manages Expenditures
Develop a schedule of contests for each season and manage travel for away games.
Manage and Develop Assistant Coaches and their duties
Assume position of Second Assignment as determined by the Director of Athletics
Additional Duties:
Abides by NCAA Division III rules and regulations.
Remains “on-call” for student-athletes needs 24/7, nights and weekends. Requires extensive travel and time during the regular season and during the recruiting season.
Cooperates and collaborates with other employees in the spirit of teamwork and collegiality and interact with confidence, patience and integrity to provide professional leadership during emergencies.
Complies with all Trinity University policies and guidelines.
Performs other duties as required.
Experience:
Required: 3 years to 5 years coaching experience, preferably at Division III level.
Skills:
Preferred:
Group dynamics.
Basketball skill development.
Basic understanding of technical aspects of basketball skills and strategy.
Coaching, recruiting, budget management, and scheduling.
Roster management.
Interpersonal communication skills with parents, students, and alumni.
Evaluation of skill level of prospective student athletes.
Knowledge and ability to communicate the value of a Trinity’s education.
Awareness of current and future needs for the basketball program success and development.
Demonstrated effectiveness in the recruitment of student athletes and the instructional aspects of coaching.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university.
Preferred: Master's degree or equivalent.
Licenses/Certifications:
Required: Attends NCAA Regional Rules Seminar, once ever.
