Job Description

  • Albemarle is expanding its Global SAP team to support its SAP S4 HANA landscape. This position will focus on Transportation Management / Logistics Execution and be located at our Charlotte, NC facility. This position works within a global IT team that is geographically dispersed and closely collaborates to effectively service its SAP users. The selected candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with SAP business users, providing worldwide support and designing solutions to meet business process requirements. The selected candidate will also participate in largescale programs as the need arises.

    The successful candidate will have 10+ years of experience in SAP IT department and / or SAP consulting positions. A proven record of professional progression and a broad understanding of SAP. In addition, the candidate should be future focused willing to embrace new SAP technologies such as S/4 HANA. A professional background in a logistical company like a 3PL provider or carrier would be a plus.

    The candidate will be responsible for carrying out the following job duties within their respective module:

  • Manage system maintenance activities, ensuring change requests and all enhancements are progressed as needed
  • Actively manage relationships with the business and functional groups as designated point of contact
  • Project Manager for large, complex projects
  • Actively manage relationships with third party providers as the designated point of contact
  • Undertake systems analysis, design and systems building activities together and in alignment with the logistics department
  • Work independently on a range of projects and tasks with multiple parts
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Job Requirements

  • 10 + years of experience in related SAP support and/or consulting
  • BS degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Excellent communication skills in English both written and oral
  • SAP TM experience

  • Extensive knowledge SAP Transport Management (TM) - manage transportation requirements from order entry to freight settlement.
  • Strong knowledge in Logistics Execution (LE), Extended Warehouse Management (EWM), GTS Global Trade Service and Event Management (EM)
  • Knowledge in Global Trade - TM freight order functionality for compliance check and customs
  • Basic knowledge in Electronic Data Interchange XML, Idocs and experience with portals such as Elemica, Ocean insight and PC Miller is a plus.
  • Understanding of freight contracts and booking (ocean, rail, air for domestic and international shipments)
  • Familiar with freight planning/tendering/forwarding and settlement, labeling and transportation documents.
    • Preferable to be certified in a TM module of SAP ECC or S/4HANA (S/4HANA Supply Chain for Transportation Management)
    • Ability to understand business processes from a customer perspective and ability to extract implicit requirements
    • Ability to work in a distributed team environment, effectively interacting with others
    • Must be results oriented, and demonstrate a "can-do" attitude - adaptability, flexibility and resourcefulness
    • Configure TM and S4 system
    • Create functional specifications
    • Design interfaces with non-SAP systems along with technical team
    • Conduct Integration testing
    • Support user testing and go-live
    • Maintain relationship with internal and customer stakeholders
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively interact at all levels within client company
    • Ability to act as team lead and solutions architect
    • Strong skills in TM processes like Shipping, Transportation Network, Manual carrier selection & tendering, Delivery based planning, Transportation Execution, Basic charge calculation and freight settlement
    • Exposure to advanced TM functionality: Order and delivery-based planning, Optimizer based planning, Automatic carrier selection and tendering, Advanced charge calculation (consolidated, event-based, air/rail/ocean functionality), Load planning and optimization (TLB)
