Position Summary

The Speech, Language, Hearing Sciences (SLHS) program of Metropolitan State University of Denver seeks a speech-language pathologist (SLP) to be part-time clinical instructor. This is an HOURLY position with no benefits@ four hours a week.

The University is particularly interested in applicants who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for under-represented groups.

Duties/Responsibilities

Position will require 4 hours per week of speech/language services to children with assistance from senior-level SLHS undergraduates. Salary: $45 per hour ($180 per week) beginning fall semester, 2019. Locations: meet with students on Auraria campus + provide services to children at the Auraria Early Learning Center and/or another partnering agency.

The SLP chosen must be committed to undergraduate clinical education and current professional practices.

Required Qualifications

a) Master's degree in speech-language pathology,
b) Certification from American Speech, Language, Hearing Association, and c) Clinical experience with young children with communication disorders. Experience working with and sensitivity to the needs of a diverse urban student population including (but not limited to) students of color, LBGTQIA students, students from low-income backgrounds, first-generation students, students with disabilities, undocumented students, non-traditional students, student veterans, and English-language learners.

Preferred Qualifications

At least 4 months of experience mentoring students and/or novice speech language pathologist (SLP) students.
