Job Description
ANSI is in search of a diligent, collaborative Program Administrator (PA) to provide support for the development and implementation of USNC and ANSI positions in relation to the work of the IEC and to represent the interests of the US voluntary standardization and conformity assessment community. This Administrator will be responsible for organizing programs and activities for the work of the U.S. National Committee for the International Electrotechnical Commission (USNC/IEC)

In order to be successful in this position, one must be committed to facilitating smooth and efficient office operations by planning carefully, anticipating needs, and providing responsive, reliable assistance to our members; they should be adaptable, proactive, and detail-oriented.

This individual will be providing wide-ranging support to management while helping to administer USNC committees and Technical Advisory Groups (TAGs). The position also assists in the USNC’s efforts to build a strong and effective interface with our members.


Essential Functions:
 
  • Administer and facilitate the development of electrotechnical policy under the United States National Committee (USNC) to the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC)
 
  • Organize effective outreach programs and activities in accordance with the mission and goals of the USNC
 
  • Serve as staff support for the USNC Conformity Assessment Policy Coordination Committee and standing committees as assigned


Additional Responsibilities:
 
  • Provide guidance on USNC procedures and processes, as well as attend meetings, if necessary, to assist committees and groups in the successful advancement of US positions and responsibilities
  • Contribute to general public education and awareness regarding the functions of the USNC and the overall standards development and conformity assessment processes
  • Maintain close relations and work cooperatively with other ANSI staff where overarching USNC and IEC policy issues intersect with ISO or regional/bilateral policy issues
  • Keep supervisor informed of activities and developments in the areas of responsibility
     

Education and Training:

 
  • Bachelor’s degree in project management, international relations, communications or related discipline, required; further study desirable.
     
  • Familiarity with IEC and/or ISO (including IEEE, ITU, etc.) structure, activities and ISO/IEC Directives desirable.
 
  • Two or more years of experience in office administration and communications programs with heavy writing, including management and standards-related experience.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven competence and sensitivity in multi-stakeholder and multi-cultural dynamics and environments.
  • Excellent exercise of discretion and diplomacy, including solid judgment operating in highly political environments.
  • Outstanding organizational and administrative skills.
  • Strong ability to interact with other staff and external constituents as a team player.
  • Willingness to develop familiarity with policy content of assigned program areas.
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Dynamics CRM and database management.
  • Experience working with functions, pivot tables, sorting and filtering in Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent analytical abilities and creative problem solving.
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills.
  • Strong ability to interact with other staff and external constituents as a team player.
  • Willingness to develop familiarity with policy content of assigned program areas.
  • Proficiency in various kinds of electronic communications, including web conferencing.
  • A team player with a strong work ethic.
