General Summary

This position is responsible for project planning management and execution of water and wastewater projects through development of project scope, scheduling and financial management.

Essential Job Accountabilities

  1. Manage and coordinate project execution and maintain interface with clients to ensure customer satisfaction.
  2. Negotiates and ensures completion of all contractual requirements to ensure project is completed to specifications.
  3. Provides oversight of project design, construction, fabrication, assembly to ensure requirements are communicated to required parties.
  4. Provides weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly cost center forecasts to ensure jobs are on track and management is aware of sales projections.
  5. Prepares and submits pay applications and/or coordinate invoices to customers ensuring timeliness and accuracy of billing.
  6. Negotiates and issues subcontractor and vendor contracts and purchase orders to protest company interests while providing customer satisfaction.
  7. Manages project costs and schedules to estimate, contract, and customer requirements
  8. Coordinates all activities among departments supporting assigned projects to ensure timelines are met.
  9. Generates and negotiates changes of scope with customer and communicate with peers to meet change of work specifications.
  10. Ensures shop fabrication and assembly operations meet project and schedule requirements to keep jobs on projected time tables.
  11. Manages final contract obligations including start-up, installation, and final acceptance to meet customer requirements.
  12. Estimates project costs, ensuring specification compliance and generation; prepares proposals, and implementation of database and supporting software and hardware.
  13. Fosters contractor and vendor relationships for standards, quantity and blanket discounts, agreements and terms and conditions to maintain business relationships for repeat business growth.
  14. Provides technical assistance, presentations, and seminars for engineers and customers; both internal and external to provide understanding of company capabilities.
  15. Provides written proposals, technical reports, and other written documents to our clients, engineers, and internally to assist with understanding and job requirements.
  16. Travels as required to jobsites, customer and engineering locations, and Layne offices and support locations.





Qualifications
Education

Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical or Civil preferred) or equivalent experience

Work Experience

  • Minimum 3 years Project Management experience in water and/or wastewater or related industry
  • Proven capabilities in project execution, contract negotiation and coordination of projects from start to finish

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Ability to schedule and manage multiple internal crews and subcontractors performing multiple, consecutive activities
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude conducive to working with field and administrative personnel, and public
  • Exceptional ability to effectively communicate in both written and verbal forms in English
  • Ability to understand P&L statements, and able to create worksheets and job costing information
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must possess a valid driver's license

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to operate a computer keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.   • Willing and able to travel, with approximately 25% of time spent in the field
  • Must be able to work overtime and irregular hours when required
