Manufacturing Engineering Manager 

We have seen great success in innovating advanced manufacturing techniques in the design and fabrication of temperature sensors, thermocouple systems, interconnect cable-harness assemblies, probes, and sensors. For over 65 years, we have successfully supplied these products to the commercial, business, military jet, rotor, and spacecraft markets.

Based in Branford, CT, we have an opportunity for a hands-on Manufacturing Engineering Manager. You will report directly to the VP of Operations and be responsible for directing, planning, and coordinating manufacturing efforts for all product lines.

To be successful in this role, you will be…

  • Responsible for managing manufacturing engineers.
  • Participate and drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
  • Serve as driver and champion of change and Process Improvement projects.
  • Partner with production, purchasing & materials manager to resolve chronic issues on the production floor to ensure KPI attainment.
  • Working closely with the R&D Engineers, supporting the Design Transfer activities for products entering production.
  • Leading process improvement teams on existing production lines and supporting redesign activities to enable optimal manufacturability and performance.
  • Review project priorities with employees and the entire team to ensure all projects are completed on time.
  • Review process designs, documents, tooling and collateral materials for compliance to requirements.
  • Review process validation reports, product failure investigations
  • Interface with R&D to understand product roadmap, upcoming projects, changes to current product line etc. and be a bridge between Operations and Design Engineering.
  • Involvement with MRB process for component quality issues and partner with QC, purchasing & SQE on a daily basis.
  • Educate & empower the team to develop manufacturing processes for efficiency and quality.
  • Assist with Quality Assurance (QA) during quality audits.
  • Manage Corrective and Preventative Actions assigned to the team and ensure timely closure of the same.
  • Interface with suppliers on outsourced parts, assemblies and quality/delivery issues on an as needed basis.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Strong LEAN background.
  • Focuses on cost-savings in manufacturing & transactional environments.
  • Able to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
  • Highly proficient with the various MS Office programs.
  • Experience with CAD / AutoCad, SolidWorks, and/or Mastercam a plus.
  • Strong leadership skills.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline required. Master's degree in Engineering, Operations or Business preferred.
  • At least seven (7) years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, focusing on manufacturing or operations engineering. This experience must include prior Continuous Improvement / LEAN manufacturing project work.
  • At least five (5) years’ experience managing or directly supervising manufacturing engineers or other manufacturing/production personnel.
  • Prior experience as a Manufacturing/Process Engineer or Continuous Improvement/ LEAN Champion Experience in launching new products (NPI), value engineering, quality and process improvement programs.
  • Experience in project management and efficient in prioritizing projects based on resource availability.
