Job Description

Aviation Paint & Finish Technician

**Shifts include Monday through Thursday (four 10 hour shifts), or Friday/Saturday/Sunday (three 12 hour shifts)**


Job Summary
The Paint & Finish Technician II applies pre-mixed and blended paint or coating to well-prepared interior and exterior aircraft parts. Applies wood finishes such as stains and high-build clear topcoats to newly refurbished woodwork; performs touch-up and repair of interior and exterior paint work as well as cabinetry; and mechanically polishes paint, wood and exterior Brite-work as required.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Mixes and applies paints and stains to interior and exterior components
  • Mixes polyester and clear topcoat to wood cabinetry
  • Sands and masks surface areas on aircraft or woodwork for painting and finish applications
  • Constructs temporary paint booths using PVC pipe structure, plastic, and ventilation system
  • Touches up interior woodwork and finish
  • Polishes Brite-work
  • Assists team members with other functions within the Interiors Department through cross training of other Interior Department functions
  • Ensures proper care of customer property at all phases of work
  • Accurately completes required paperwork and work order details in Corridor on a consistent and timely basis
  • Meets or beats flat rates for most of his/her assigned tasks
  • Utilizes support equipment in a safe manner to accomplish work tasks
  • Understands and follows all safety procedures
  • Coordinates, or assists with the coordination of, vendor services for plating, flame treatment, placards, fabrications, etc.
  • Orders consumables and raw materials in Corridor as required and/or directed
  • Receives incoming materials verifying all required documentation is present, confirming color and placing materials in designated locations
  • Assists with shipping of delicate interior items (packaging, crating, and protection) as required
  • Complies with the documenting procedure of sprayed paint/glue and record waste as required
  • Completes, or assists with the completion of, burn testing documents, coupons and travelers, as required for sign off of work
  • Fire locker control/Expired material control: keeps, or assists keeping, lockers up to date
  • Works overtime as required
