Job Description
Position Summary

The scope of this job is to support the US National Committee of the IEC in the administration and implementation of its domestic and international projects and programs.  This position will primarily provide support for USNC and ANSI positions in relation to standardization and conformity assessment work in the IEC. This program management position will specifically be responsible for organizing all programs and activities to facilitate the technical work of the USNC.
To be a successful manager, you should be committed to facilitating all department operations by planning carefully, anticipating needs, and providing responsive, reliable assistance. You should be adaptable, proactive, and detail-oriented.
You will provide wide-ranging support to the Director while helping to administer various USNC Policy and Standing Committees, and perhaps even Technical Advisory Groups (TAGs). The position also helps coordinate the USNC’s efforts to build a strong and effective interface with our members.

Specific Responsibilities

USNC Mission
  • Supports the USNC General Secretary in the administration and implementation of the USNC’s international projects and development initiatives, effectively communicating and promoting our members’ positions in standards and conformance
  • Implements USNC policies and administrative decisions, lending knowledge and expertise to the USNC constituency, as well as ANSI staff
  • Performs other duties and carries out special projects as necessary, including support for the Vice President, International Policy
IEC Standardization Management Board (SMB) / USNC Technical Management Board (TMC)
  • Serves as the US Alternate Member to the IEC SMB
  • Supports the primary US SMB Member in the development of votes, comments, and proposals before the SMB
  • Provides administrative support for the TMC in collaboration with the General Secretary and TMC Chair
  • Exercises discretion and solid judgment in highly political environments
General
  • Keeps supervisor informed of activities and developments in assigned program areas
  • Manages all TMC & SMB voting as well as document review and distribution
  • Supports departmental budgeting and related financial activities
  • Coordinates with members and staff as necessary to effectively achieve project goals
  • Assists in overseeing staff, assigning projects and ensuring smooth operation of the department
Job Specific Skills
  • Writes meeting reports and agendas demonstrating the ability to research and structure the content of these materials with limited supervision
  • Pitches ideas and initiatives with confidence, demonstrating the capability to discuss both strategic and tactical concepts with domestic and international partners
  • Works independently, taking initiative where appropriate and asks for help when needed
  • Position requires domestic and international travel
Experience
  • 3+ years related standards / conformity assessment work experience
  • Outstanding written and oral English communication skills a must
  • Proven business development experience, project management experience a plus
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced and rapidly changing environments
  • Ability to work effectively with various levels within and outside the Institute
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, MS Project)
Education and Training
  • Bachelors’ degree required; further education desired
  • Experience in international environments, foreign language ability a plusPosition Summary
